Bah Humbug Challenge 35 - Sentiments or Text

I was very sorry to not have been able to make last weeks fab challenge of
Here Come the Girls .. In the 2 years of Bah Humbug running their fabulous weekly challenges I am very proud to have managed every single challenge so far. Anyway, I have managed this weeks challenge of incorporating either Sentiments or Text I have used 'crepe' paper for the first time within my cardmaking. I have seen it used within scrapbooking and so admired the effects that can be achieved. I only have a few odds and ends of crepe paper and in one colour 'Red' so that for me was very fortunate as red nicely finished off the card. The digi image is from the fabulous Meljen Designs
Here is my card

I threded the button onto the Crepe Paper. I have added a gem and colour to the plain white button.
I added some sparkle to the 'digi' image using a sakura pen and glamour dust. The holly berries have been made more '3D' using glossy accents

CHNC 33 - Simply Christmas - Just One Layer

I have left this to the very last minute, making and entering this weeks challenge over at CHNC that is .. time seems to have run away with me this week ..I have ever so quickly made my card for Hazel's challenge of 'Just One Layer' I did find the concept actually quite daunting .. but knuckled down and stamped my image. I had a few goes with several types of inks, in the end I opted for Elysbells Pigment Ink. I had in mind of adding some eyelets, so did this and threaded through some ribbon. Both the stamp and Debbie More Metal Magic are both new to me ... I have had both a little while just never got round to using them. This has then given me the chance to get ahead and enter my card into this weeks

Here is my 1st ever 'one layer card' I would hope with more practice I could come up with other ideas of how to achieve.

Bah Humbug Challenge 32 - 'Kiss' Mas

Over at Bah Humbug there puckering up with such a fun challenge of

We'd like you to 'pucker up' and create something to send Christmas Kisses to a loved one in your life. Someone who holds a special place in your heart that you'd like to smother in big, fat 'smack-er-oonie kisses' ... mwah ... MWAH ... M-WAH! It could be a family member ... a special friend ... or even a secret someone you don't get a chance to lock lips with but would desperately like to! You can share with us 'cos we promise not to tell!

I went on the hunt for the perfect image .. I remembered this fab. image I had bagged some time back.
'Maude Merry Christmas'

'Maude' certainly is 'puckering up' to give someone a huge smak-er-oonie

I have yet to add the a sentiment .. I have somthing in mind but as I am not 100% sure what I want I have left it off for the time being.

I have turned the corner up on the mulberry paper then added an eyelet. I have added a line of 'glamour dust' above and below the lace ribbon which attached with DS tape.
Here is my card

A Day By The Sea .. Southwold

Had the most wonderful day out on Tuesday with my 2 wonderful daughter. We have never done 'Southwold' before, we took the plunge and went. After having some lovely lunch of fish and chips by the sea we went on a lovely walk by the sea, into the town and back down by the seafront to the promenade. Watched the surfers and the tide coming in thick and fast. Shame we did not find the harbour till on the way out going for home, seems that is the place to buy your fish and chips, fish fresh in from that morning cooked up at a tiny fish and chip shop .. will know for next time The weather was glorious .. we really did have such a lovely time. Nice to recharge the ol batteries. Here are just a few pics. of ther many we took.

A few Makes - Birthday and New Baby

Our Mechanic of many yrs. has just become a dad .. He is someone who can never stay still, loves extreme sports, lives on Donuts and Coca-Cola .. I am sure his baby daughter is going to keep him very busy indeed and she is going to be showered with so much love from her very proud parents. Claire knitted some booties .. They are a beautiful pair of 'Mary Jane Booties'

sadly I did not manage to get a pic. of them before they went with her to the garage as she collected her Likkle Mini.
I have made a simple card with a beautiful image from Original Comtempory Art :: Karen's Whimsy
I changed the colour a little, using red tones, and decided it needed nothing more than that. I have made my own background using a Rollagraph Flower Wheel adding some glamour dust for extra sparkle. I added some skickles and fluid chalk around the edges of the image.

The background is made using a 'Rollagraph' flower wheel. I have added some extra sparkle with glamour dust and skickles. The Corner is made from a 1" strip with an added pink eyelet.

The Acrylic Word 'A New Baby' was in with wonderful Lovin Ink Blog Candy
I threaded it with some satin pink ribbon

'Totally Special' Birthday Card I made the background using stamps from 'Fancy Pants Doodle'
Adding Glamour Dust for that extra sparkle. The Corner is made from a 1" strip. The Embossed flower is again made using the same Rollagraph flower wheel background as used when making the 'corner'  I have made two of these Birthday Cards - both very similar, the only difference is the embossed flower.

The Nellies Die cut is a background made with a 'Rollagraph' flower wheel, again I have added some extra sparkle with glamour dust and skickles, as I have with the 'Totally Special' RS Image.

Lace and Festive Food - Bah Humbug Challenge 30 - CHNC 31

Here we are almost at the end of July. I simply cannot believe how quickly the summer is passing by. The sun has made an appearence today, of which is indeed very welcome.
I have a busy week ahead with one thing and another so I am needing to be quick off the mark with both the Bah Humbug Challenge 30 'Lace' and CHNC 31 'Festive Food' I ended up m aking two cards as I could not really make a decision as to which image I was going to use. I do Like the 'Drake Pudding' Image. I have used him a couple of times before, I do so enjoy the ease of colouring the image. I have had this fab. Santa Claus Cupcake image since the beginning of the yr. but as yet not got round to using him ..He was a delight to colour.

I have added blue cotton lace to the embossed middle strip pf gold lustre card, I have used the same card
on the corner with an added eyelet. Drake really does look very proud of his Christmas Pud.

He really is a jolly Santa Cupcake. I added 'Star Crystal' Stickles to his moustache, eyebrows and hat trim.
I have again added Cottpn lace to embossed strips of card.

Using up some 'Snippets'

After seeing all of the wonderful cards Irene has created using up some of her 'Snippets' prompted me to make a couple of 'Thank you' cards I needed to make for several friends. I have used up some of my 'negatives' from cutting nesties. I never throw any of the 'snippets' from crafting .. I now must use them instead of them being piled up in a box! The Rubber Stamped image is from my new set of Fancy Pants 'Doddles and Things' I stamped it in 'Mushroom' onto Faux Leather White Card then used my fine tombow glue pen on the outline of the image then added gold Glamour Dust. The flower/Thank you is from a Paula Pascal Personal Impressions set.

Two Thank you Cards made from the 'Negatives' from 'Nestie Labels' I edged the K'Ology paper with some fluid chalk.

Prima Scrapbook Kit Class

On Saturday I went with a couple of my Camera Club friends to a Prima Scrapbook Kit Class at my local craft store 'Its Crafting Time' The class was taken by 'Jackie Payne' We had the most enjoyable day. I have not attempted a 2 page scrapbook page before. As you will see from my pic. I did not quite understand the concept! But all the same I am pleased with what I created. I used my pics. taken of the hanging baskets at my local pub and that of a pretty view through a gate at some local alm houses. I am very proud that the hanging basket pic. was used as the cover for our camera club DVD as well on the DVD we made last yr. to help raise funds. The DVD was of local scenes within our village that camera club members took.
I have not used Prima papers before. Wow .. they are indeed so pretty. The main elements within the pages are cut with a Cricut Expression using the fab. 'Paper Lace Cartridge' .. I have the basic Cricut machine so getting to use this lovely machine was fab. Nearby the Cricut was a Big Shot Pro, not seen one in the flesh before .. OMG, its huge!
Here are a few pics. from the day

This pic. was taken of the afternon session. You can continue from the morning session or do your own thing.
Most did 'their own thing' me and another lady had not finsihed our pages from the morning so we continued with that.
Val and Maureen (Camera Club Friends) are the ladies on the left of the pic. Val was scrapping pics. from her recent 7 week tour of the USA and Mairan (Pronounced Maureen) used very pretty pics of flowers.

My Finished 2 pages using products from Prima.

CHNC 30 - Reindeer

Time waits for no one .. that is so true, time is flying by. I cannot believe we are soon coming into the month of August.

Over at CHNC Hazel asks that
This week I would like you to see at least one reindeer on your card.

I decided I would use my lovely 'Sizzix Embosslits' Reindeer. I embossed him onto Core'dinations Whitewash, once sanded it brought out the nice brown core. I mounted him onto some gold mirror card. I used a piece of Kraft card, embossed with swiss dots and swiped over with fluid chalk. I have also embossed the Nellies Scalloped rectangle. My card also fits perfectly for Bah Humbugs Challenge 29 'Beads'
The Humbuggers say
I threded a small shimmering red pony bead onto a piece of the pretty organza. Poundland have them in at the moment covering various spectrums and tones of colour. The set I used goes from cream, various shades of browns, gold to the very pretty shimmering dark golden brown I used on this card. I am guessing that if you were to get a sample of each colour at your local haberdashery it would be much more than a pound for the combination of colours included in each pack.
Cast your beady little eyes ...*snigger* ... around all the nooks, crannies and crafty cubbyholes until you find your box of delightful beads ... crystal beads ... plastic beads ... sparkly beads ... micro-beads ... wooden beads ...  in fact any kind of beads at all ... EXCEPT the 'beads of sweat' that are threatening to tickle your top lip, 'cos that's absolutely NOT what we want to see ... so hurry and wipe them away LOL.

Finally, My card also fits in nicely with 'Christmas In July over at
The Rubber Cafe

Oh I do like to be beside the Seaside .. Pics. from Lowestoft

I was lucky enough to have a few hours in Lowestoft on Monday. Thankfully it was dry for most of my time there. It was quite windy and later in the day the sun even managed to make an appearance.
This picture was taken not long before I was having to leave Lowestoft. The sun was making a brief apperance.

Such an amazing skyline.
I did seek out a crafty shop before leaving for Lowestoft, it took me a while to find the rd. but boy was it worth it. The Crafter's Paradise and its owner, Margaret is very nice indeed. I managed to get a fab. bargain 'Fancy Pants' 12x12 clear RS set  'Doodles' RRP Cost approx £32.00 I got it for a mere £5.99!

Margaret made me feel very welcome, I was offered a chair, we sat and had a good ol chin wag. Such a nice lady, so helpful in every way.

Here are my photographs of my time in Lowestoft

My Delicious Lunch of Homemade Steak and Kidney Pud and Fresh Vegetables from 'The Harbour Inn'
Placed very close to the seafront/Harbour. Excellent Value for money, suberb service and the food is excellent.
It has been open for business just a few months and has receieved very postive reviews. I have added to those  reviews with trip adviser as well as the local tourist office.

A Yacht just coming into the harbour.
I can only imagine the size of the wind turbine in the distance is enormous up close
A seagul performing some fancy footwork
I stood a good while to enable me to capture the waves hitting the rocks. The seabird very gracefully stayed put so adding some extra interest to the picture.

It was very difficult to get capture this picture. The bridge 'Moves' a lot as the traffic goes over it, especially so with the heavy lorries. I waitied for a lull in the traffic before taking the pic., the passing of vehicles is very heavy;it only gave me a very few seconds to capture the view without any passing cars, lorries or pedestrians

CHNC 29- Seeing Stars

Hazel's Challenge this week is to use 'Stars' within a card. Anything with stars and I immediately turn to my 'swirls and stars' rollagraph wheel. I have very simply made a swirls and stars background and used it as the main focus of the card. I punched out circles, used the negative sheet then stamped snowflakes onto the circles. These stand proud from the negative sheet with 3D foam. I used the 'star' paper with the background as well as the corner embellishments.
Here is my finished card

Bah Humbug Challenge 28 - Shapes

I did quake in my boots when I read what this weeks challenge is over at  Bah Humbug

The majority of cards we crafters make are either square or rectangular, so this challenge is encouraging you to take things a step further and create something else entirely ... use any shape EXCEPT a square or rectangle.
I have only one 'Shape' card template, a pyramid type shape, but I wanted to try something different so I looked through my Eazi Scor Project Book for inspiration. I came across a 'pentagon' shaped card, so I set about making a pentagon by scoring an A4 piece of card in half then its a simple case of cutting off the excess to get your pentagon shape.
I used black card for the base card then added some 'freebie' paper on the whole of the card - meaning back and front. The 'Snowflakes' are cut with my Cricut. I have cut two sizes and then layered them. I added some stickles for extra sparkle. I then added a ribbon flower for the central sentiment. Here is my finished card.

Bah Humbug Challenge 27 - Meeces

I am no fan of mice, they terrify me! Thankfully over at Bah Humbug the likkle mice featured in their fabulous DT designs are just so cute. Challenge 27 is  'Meeces' I don't have anything mice related within my stash so I scoured my digital downloads folder. I found two images, I could not decide which one to use so decided to use both. The first image is called 'Party Mouse' isn't he fabulous Not 100% sure where he is from though. The second is from the  very talened illustrator Elizabeth O Dulemba
My cards also fit in very nicely with CHNC 'Spots's before your eyes'

Birthday Cards .. Tulips from Amsterdam ..

I cannot remember where I came across the beautiful digital download of a bunch of tulips, but I decided I was going to make use of it on a number of Birthday cards I needed to make. I made four cards, all are of similar design so won't bore you with adding them all. The fifth card I made is different; I had been experimenting with some folds earlier in the day and this card kind of evolved. I have used a valley/mountain folds to create the 'stand' across the bottom of the card. The 'inside' pulls out from the side by pulling on the tab. The sentiment and birthday wishes are then revealed.
